Species-appropriate attitude

The legislation differs between the individual federal states.
A distinction must be made between the nationwide regulation of species-appropriate husbandry and the requirement for a permit.
Information on the permit requirement is given by the lower environmental protection authority. Here, the animals must be reported up to the 4th generation.
In Bavaria, Savannah cats up to the 4th generation are not allowed to be kept.

The veterinary office provides information on the husbandry conditions.

Savannah cats up to and including F4, as hybrids, fall under the Species Protection Act and are therefore subject to registration.
Up to the 4th generation, the animals are also not free roamers.

Lower generation Savannahs can be kept indoors with a secured balcony, but again speaking to the regional veterinary office is recommended.

Higher generation Savannahs, F1 and F2, require an enclosure of 50 square meters for one animal and one pair.

Further information can also be found in the report on keeping mammals.
